The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Xinjiang FT's (8-3) home victory over 8th ranked Leopards (5-6) 122-86 on Monday. Xinjiang FT dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Leopards' 48 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Leopards 50-23 including a 39-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Xinjiang FT looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Leopards were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center Zhou Qi (217-96) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard John Groover (193-87, college: Lurleen BW CC) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward QuAn Gu (202-92) produced 23 points and 4 assists and guard Yang Linyi (190-95) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Xinjiang FT have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 8-3 record. Loser Leopards dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Xinjiang FT will face higher ranked Royal Fighters (#5) in Beijing in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leopards will play at home against Beijing Ducks (#6) and hope to win that game.
