An interesting game for Guandong Tigers (13-0) which played road game in Hangzhou against second-ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (9-3). Leader Guandong Tigers managed to get a 7-point victory 104-97. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Guandong Tigers forced 21 Zhejiang Guangsha Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 50-39 including a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guandong Tigers made 9 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Zhejiang Guangsha Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Zheng Liu (186-75) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Sun Minghui (188-96) added 19 points and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-0 record. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Golden Bulls (#3) in Hangzhou in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play at home against Leopards and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
