Fifth-ranked Pelicans (27-38) gave a tough game to third ranked Jazz (41-24) in New Orleans. The visitors from Salt Lake City managed to secure only two-point victory 106-104. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pelicans. Jazz made 24-of-28 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Pelicans turnovers. Pelicans were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson (196-92, college: Missouri) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Donovan Mitchell (190-96, college: Louisville) accounted for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Brandon Ingram (206-97, college: Duke) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Jrue Holiday (193-90, college: UCLA) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Pelicans in the defeat. Five Jazz and four Pelicans players scored in double figures. Pelicans' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jazz keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Miami Heat. Pelicans at the other side keep the fifth place with 38 games lost.
