Fraser Valley (2-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by seventh ranked Ottawa (1-2) 78-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fraser Valley. They outrebounded Fraser Valley 44-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ottawa made 8 blocks. Eritrean-Canadian guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (188-92, college: Ottawa) fired 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. British-Canadian Thomas Scrubb (198-91, college: Carleton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Marcus Capers (193-89, college: WSU, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and guard Jahenns-Ley Manigat (186-91, college: Creighton) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ottawa left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Niagara and Hamilton. Fraser Valley at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Edmonton and Guelph. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
