Regular Season Round 5: Niagara - Edmonton 86-87

The most exciting game of round 5 in the CEBL took place in Niagara. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Niagara (1-3) to third ranked Edmonton (3-1) 87-86 on Friday evening. Edmonton dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Niagara's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Jordan Baker (201-91, college: Alberta) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Xavier Moon (188-95, college: Morehead St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 24 points and 6 assists. Guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) produced 23 points and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Kassius Robertson (191-94, college: Missouri) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Niagara's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Edmonton have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Guelph. Niagara lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with three games lost. Edmonton is looking forward to face Saskatchewan (#6) in Saskatoon in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Niagara will have a break next round.
