Regular Season Round 8: Ottawa - Niagara 79-81

The most exciting game of round 8 in the CEBL took place in Ottawa. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Ottawa (2-3) to seventh ranked Niagara (2-4) 81-79 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ottawa. Niagara made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Niagara made 8 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Ottawa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kassius Robertson (191-94, college: Missouri) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) who added 15 points during the contest. Niagara's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Munis Tutu (183-96, college: Carleton) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Eritrean-Canadian guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (188-92, college: Ottawa) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Niagara moved-up to sixth place. Ottawa at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Niagara will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ottawa will play at home against Saskatchewan (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
