Very important is a road loss of third ranked Wizards (24-45) against fifth ranked Pelicans (29-40) on Friday night. Visiting Wizards unexpectedly were defeated by in New Orleans 107-118. Pelicans made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pelicans made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was point guard Jrue Holiday (193-90, college: UCLA) who scored 28 points and 6 assists. Brandon Ingram (206-97, college: Duke) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Swingman Troy Brown Jr. (201-99, college: Oregon, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Ishmael Smith (183-88, college: Wake Forest) added 18 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Five Pelicans and four Wizards players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pelicans moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sacramento K. Wizards lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the third position with 45 games lost.
