Very important is a road loss of third ranked Lightning (3-1) against thirteenth ranked Cougars (1-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Lightning was defeated by Cougars in a tough game in Hamilton Hill 81-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lightning. Cougars had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Luke Travers (201-1) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Swingman Gavin Field (202-89, college: UWG) chipped in 22 points. Forward Corey Shervill (201-88, college: St.Edward's) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Cougars left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with SW Slammers. Loser Lightning dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Cougars will face higher ranked Eagles (#9) in Morley in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lightning will play on the road against Suns (#12) in Kalamunda and hope to win that game.
