Roar's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after one consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Wizards (1-1) 85-81 on Saturday. New Zealand guard Ashleigh Karaitiana (183-92, college: Hawaii) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Swingman Courtney Woods (183, college: NIU) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and Regan McCarty (-97) added 10 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Wizards. Roar left bottom position moving up to sixth place in League. Roar will face higher ranked Rollers (#4) in Gold Coast in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wizards will play at home against Rip City (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
