Regular Season Round 6: SC Phoenix - NGC Seahawks 103-53
Date: August 22, 2020
Not a big story in a game in Cotton Tree where bottom-ranked Seahawks (0-3) were rolled over by bottom-ranked Phoenix (3-0) 103-53 on Saturday. Phoenix held Seahawks to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Phoenix forced 22 Seahawks turnovers and outrebounded them 53-39 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Seahawks' players. Seahawks were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Maltese center Nelson Kahler (206-94, college: CSU-Pueblo) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jamaal Robateau (196, college: Gardner-Webb) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Phoenix players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Maika Shortland with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Jesse Lomax scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Phoenix maintains second position in League with 3-0 record having just 3 victories less than leader BA CoE. Loser Seahawks still closes the standings with three games lost. Phoenix will face Rollers (#9) in Gold Coast in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Seahawks will play on the road against Toowoomba Mountaineers and hope to get finally their first victory.
