State League top team - Flames (7-2) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Redbacks (6-3) in Rockingham 64-60. It was a key game for the second position in League. Flames forced 28 Redbacks turnovers. Strangely Redbacks outrebounded Flames 50-29 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Christina Boag (188-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Swingman Ariana Hetherington (176) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Flames' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Maddison Allen (190-93, college: Santa Clara) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Jessica Jakens (181-94) added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Redbacks. Despite that victory Flames went down to second position (League) due to points difference. Loser Redbacks dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Flames will face Magic (#10) in Mandurah in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
