Regular Season Round 9: Perry Lakes H. - Kalamunda E.S. 92-65

Everything could happen in Floreat at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Hawks and 6th ranked Suns had identical 6-3 record. This time Hawks used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Kalamunda 92-65 on Friday night. Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 34. Hawks forced 20 Suns turnovers and outrebounded them 46-20 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international power forward Natalie Burton (194-89, college: WVU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Morgan Ballantyne chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Hawks players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Jewel Williams (168-1) with 17 points and 7 assists and center Jessie Edwards (192-95, college: Minnesota) scored 17 points. Suns' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hawks (7-3) moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Suns keep the sixth position with four games lost. Hawks will face Cougars (#8) in Hamilton Hill in the next round. Suns will play on the road against Magic in Mandurah and hope to win that game.
