Regular Season Round 9: SW Slammers - Joondalup W. 26-106

Date: September 12, 2020
State League top team - Wanneroo (9-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Slammers (0-11) in Bunbury 106-26. Wanneroo held Slammers to an opponent 24.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Wanneroo forced 39 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 51-21 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Slammers' players. It was a good game for American forward Kayla Steindl (187-89, college: Gonzaga) who led her team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Neseya Williams (187-1) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Latvian guard Anita Reca (162-95) answered with 4 points and 4 steals and Imogen Van-Laere added 2 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Slammers. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wanneroo maintains first place in League with 9-1 record. Slammers at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Wanneroo's next round opponent will be Tigers (#9) in Willetton and are hoping to win another game.
