Regular Season Round 9: Northside W. - Toowoomba M. 85-49

Bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-7) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to eighth ranked Wizards (3-3) 85-49 on Saturday evening. Wizards dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Mountaineers' 20. Wizards forced 24 Mountaineers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Swingman Courtney Woods (183, college: NIU) stepped up and scored 25 points and 4 assists for the winners and guard Stephanie Reid (168-96, college: Buffalo) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Wizards' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Rhiannon Phelan with 18 points and Jaydan Thomson scored 4 points and 15 rebounds. Wizards moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with seven games lost. Wizards will face Pirates (#11) in Runcorn in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mountaineers will play at home against Roar and hope to get finally their first victory.
