Regular Season Round 5: Sayago - Tabare 76-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Tabare and 9th ranked Sayago had identical 2-5 record. But Sayago was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Tabare 90-76 on Friday night. They made 31-of-41 free shots (75.6 percent) during the game, while Sayago only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Sayago was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Octavio Medina (195-96) who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Diego Tortajada (202-93) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (206-93, college: UW-Parkside) produced 8 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Alfonso Arrillaga (195-96) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tabare (3-5) moved-up to ninth place. Loser Sayago dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Tabare will face higher ranked Stockolmo (#5) in Montevideo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sayago will play on the road against O.Mundial (#3) in Montevideo and hope to win that game.
