Regular Season Round 10: SD Spartans - Toowoomba M. 109-39

Leader Brisbane Spartans delivered the seventh victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-9) 109-39. Brisbane Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Mountaineers' 22. Brisbane Spartans forced 35 Mountaineers turnovers and outrebounded them 50-25 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Brisbane Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Mountaineers' players. Madelyn Willey scored 18 points, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand swingman Natalie Taylor (183-82, college: SEMO) chipped in 23 points and 4 steals during the contest. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. At the losing side Jaydan Thomson responded with 7 points and 6 rebounds and Tyler Courtney scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brisbane Spartans maintains first position in League with 7-1 record. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with nine games lost. Brisbane Spartans will meet at home Sunshine CP (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mountaineers will play against the league's second-placed Thunder in Loganholme and hope to get finally their first victory.
