The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Verdirrojo's (2-8) home loss to eleventh ranked Sayago (4-6) in Montevideo 62-91 on Tuesday. Sayago dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Verdirrojo's 34. They outrebounded Verdirrojo 44-21 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sayago looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Verdirrojo's players. It was a good game for Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (206-93, college: UW-Parkside) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Guard German Silvarrey (183-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists for the winners. Four Sayago players scored in double figures. Forward Martin Aguilera (195-87, agency: Pro Sports) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and guard Marcelo Nessi (188-94) added 13 points in the effort for Verdirrojo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sayago moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Verdirrojo lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Sayago will face 25 de Agosto (#9) in Montevideo in the next round. Verdirrojo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena L.Borges.
