Regular Season Round 6: Correcaminos - Mineros 84-89

Bottom-ranked Correcaminos (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to second ranked Mineros (5-1) 89-84 on Wednesday evening. Mineros made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American center Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Mike Bruesewitz (201-90, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Mineros players scored in double figures. Mineros' coach Allans Colon allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and American guard Jeff Early (190-88, college: SIU) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Mineros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aaguacateros and Lenadores. Loser Correcaminos still closes the standings with four games lost. Mineros will face league's leader Lenadores in Durango in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Correcaminos will play on the road against Dorados (#3) in Chihuahua and look forward to get finally their first victory.
