Regular Season Round 11: SD Spartans - SC Phoenix 107-63

Date: September 26, 2020
State League top team - Brisbane Spartans (8-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Sunshine CP (2-6) 107-63. Brisbane Spartans forced 29 Sunshine CP turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Brisbane Spartans especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a quality performance for Madelyn Willey who led the winners and scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-95, college: BYU) accounted for 21 points, 6 assists and 13 steals for the winning side. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Swingman Amy Browne (178-90) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian guard Natalie Saunders (178-91) added 6 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Sunshine CP in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Brisbane Spartans. Despite that victory Brisbane Spartans went down to second position due to points difference. Sunshine CP lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the tenth place with six games lost. Brisbane Spartans will meet Rip City (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sunshine CP will play against Capitals in Brisbane and hope to secure a win.
