Regular Season Round 3: Chanson V-M - Hitachi Cougars 70-73

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Chanson V-M (2-1) in Shizuoka on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Hitachi Cougars (3-0) 73-70. Hitachi Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Rika Tanimura (185-93) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Shirashi Ikuri (172-94) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Point guard Kuke Haruka (166-95) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and center Sakura Noguchi (181-1) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Chanson V-M. Four Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chanson V-M will play again at home against Hitachi Cougars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
