Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Brisbane: Capitals (#3) and Roar (#4). Capitals (7-2) crushed visiting Roar (6-3) by 41 points 96-55. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Roar. Capitals dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Roar's 34. They outrebounded Roar 54-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitals players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Roar's players. Roar was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international center Meg Essex (190-96) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Georgia Woolley helped adding 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Capitals players scored in double figures. The former international guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and New Zealand guard Ashleigh Karaitiana (183-92, college: Hawaii) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitals maintains third place with 7-2 record behind leader BA CoE. Roar at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Capitals will play against Sunshine CP (#10) in Cotton Tree in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Roar will play at home against Seahawks (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
