The game in Sippy Downs supposed to be also worth to mention about. Leader Thunder (8-0) played at the court of 8th ranked Rip City (4-5). Thunder smashed Rip City 97-50. Thunder held Rip City to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Rip City 67-40 including a 45-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Thunder players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Rip City's players. 27 personal fouls committed by Rip City helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 30 rebounds. Forward Ashley Taia (183, college: Indiana St.) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Thunder players scored in double figures. Rip City's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Thunder. They keep a position of league leader. Rip City at the other side keeps the eighth place with five games lost. Thunder's next round opponent will be Rollers (#5) in Gold Coast. Rip City will play at home against the league's second-placed Brisbane Spartans and hope to win that game.
