An interesting game for Mineros (7-1) which hosted in Zacatecas one of their biggest challengers Lenadores (5-3). First ranked Mineros managed to get a 7-point victory 93-86. Mineros shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Lenadores were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: WKU, agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists and American center Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) who added 11 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mineros' coach Allans Colon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international point guard Gabriel Giron (192-88) responded with 20 points and American Leroy Davis (198-81, college: Georgia St.) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Mineros have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Aaguacateros. Lenadores at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Soles. Mineros will play against Fuerza Regia (#5) in Monterrey in the next round. Lenadores will play at home against the league's second-placed Dorados and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
