Regular Season Round 4: Mitsubishi K. - Toyota A. 66-78

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nagoya: Toyota A. (#1) and Mitsubishi K. (#4). Mitsubishi K. was defeated at home 66-78 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Toyota A. made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Toyota A. outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 54-27 including a 27-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Stephanie Mawuli (181-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) and the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (182-93) who added 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Toyota A.'s coach Lucas Mondelo used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international swingman Aya Watanabe (169-92) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international center Risa Nishioka (186-97) scored 15 points and 4 blocks. Toyota A. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position in West with 3-0 record. Mitsubishi K. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Aishin AW and Yamanashi QB. Toyota A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mitsubishi K. will play on the road against Yamanashi QB (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
