Regular Season Round 9: Correcaminos - Plateros 86-109

Bottom-ranked Correcaminos (0-7) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fourth ranked Plateros (4-5) 109-86 on Friday evening. Plateros shot 64.8 percent from the field and made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Plateros had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 63.0 percentage. Plateros looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Correcaminos were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSUB) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Puerto Rican Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: SHSU) chipped in 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Plateros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jeff Early (190-88, college: SIU) with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) scored 20 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Plateros maintains fourth place with 4-5 record, which they share with Libertadores. Correcaminos lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Plateros will have a break next round. Correcaminos will play on the road against Fuerza Regia (#5) in Monterrey and hope to get finally their first victory.
