Regular Season Round 1: Fjolnir - Skallagrimur 91-110

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Fjolnir in Reykjavik. Hosts were rolled over by Skallagrimur 110-91. It looked good early as Fjolnir took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Skallagrimur had a 21-16 second period charge getting the lead and Fjolnir was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 91-110. It was a great shooting night for Skallagrimur especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Fjolnir's players. Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 assists for the winners and American forward Mustapha Traore (203-95, college: Monmouth, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. At the losing side Norwegian power forward Johannes Dolven (206-96, college: Barry) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and American point guard CJ Carr (173-95, college: MSSU, agency: Green Sports Management) scored 23 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Skallagrimur will play against Hamar at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fjolnir will play against Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
