There was a minor upset in Tokyo where Toyota Alvark was edged by Toshiba Thunders 55-52 on Saturday. Toyota Alvark was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-89) stepped up and scored 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Toshiba Thunders' coach Kenji Sato used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
