Very significant was Cankaya's just 3-point road victory against Elazig. Elazig was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. They outrebounded Elazig 40-21 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Elazig was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Croatian-American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: MSU) accounted for 32 points and 5 rebounds. Czech power forward Alena Hanusova (190-91, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) came up with 23 points (made all of her seven free throws) and Slovenian point guard Nika Baric (169-92) added 17 points and 7 assists respectively for Elazig in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cankaya will play against Canik Belediye in Samsun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elazig will play on the road against Izmit in Kocaeli to get more than just one victory in their record.
