Regular Season Round 7: Anwil - Legia 86-78

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Legia (5-2) against tenth ranked Anwil (3-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Legia was defeated by Anwil in a tough game in Wloclawek 78-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Legia. Anwil dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Legia's 30 and made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Croatian power forward Ivica Radic (208-90) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Anwil players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Jamel Morris (193-92, college: Fairmont St.) responded with 26 points and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Justin Bibbins (178-96, college: Utah) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Legia's coach Wojciech Kaminski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Anwil maintains tenth place with 3-3 record. Legia at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with King. Anwil will play against bottom-ranked MKS DG (#16) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Legia will play at home against Asseco Arka (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
