Regular Season Round 10: Abejas - Soles 86-89

Sixth-ranked Abejas (1-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked Soles (7-3) in Guanajuato. The visitors from Mexicali managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Abejas outrebounded Soles 46-30 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Abejas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Argentinian guard Erik Thomas (195-95, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). International guard Luke Martinez (190-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Soles' coach Ivan Deniz allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Leron Black (201-96, college: Illinois) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Bo Spencer (185-89, college: Nebraska) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Abejas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Dorados and Mineros. Abejas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Soles will play against Panteras (#5) in Aguascalientes in the next round. Abejas will have a break next round.
