Regular Season Round 5: Eneos S. - Niigata R. 83-53

Undefeated leader Eneos S. delivered the sixth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-6) 83-53 in Kashiwa. Eneos S. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 32. They outrebounded Niigata R. 39-24 including a 25-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Eneos S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Niigata R.'s players. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-91) stepped up and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and international center Kadysha Umezawa (189-98) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Coach Hideaki Umebuchi's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. Point guard Ayumi Chiba (167-96) responded with 22 points and center Raw Yoshinro (187-95) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Eneos S. (6-0) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place in East with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row, which they share with Hitachi Cougars. Niigata R. at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Haneda Vickies. Eneos S. will meet league's second-placed Hitachi Cougars in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata R. will play against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
