Regular Season Round 2: Saga B. - Kumamoto V. 81-83

A very interesting game took place in Saga. It ended with only two-point home defeat of Saga B. to Kumamoto V. 83-81 in the fight for the third place. Kumamoto V. made 31-of-40 charity shots (77.5 percent) during the game, while Saga B. only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Kumamoto V. forced 19 Saga B. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Saga B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. American forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) and point guard Reon Shibuta (175-98) added 9 points and 11 assists respectively for the hosts. Saga B.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kumamoto V.'s next round opponent will be Orange Vikings in Matsuyama where they are favorite. Saga B. will play on the road against Rizing in Fukuoka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
