Regular Season Round 5: Eneos S. - Niigata R. 88-49

Undefeated leader Eneos S. recorded the sixth consecutive victory. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-6) 88-49 in Kashiwa. Eneos S. dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 20. They outrebounded Niigata R. 54-21 including a 24-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-91) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international Saori Miyazaki (167-95) accounted for 6 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. Four Eneos S. players scored in double figures. Eneos S. had such big advantage that coach Hideaki Umebuchi felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Point guard Ayumi Chiba (167-96) came up with 20 points and forward Nishitarumizu Misakura (169-98) added 14 points and 4 steals respectively for Niigata R. in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Eneos S.. Defending champion maintains first place in East with 6-0 record, which they share with Hitachi Cougars. Niigata R. lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Eneos S.'s next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hitachi Cougars in Hitachinaka and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata R. will play on the road against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
