Regular Season Round 3: Sichuan - Fujian 89-63

An interesting game took place in Chengdu where Fujian Nanan (1-2) was upset on the court of Blue Whales (2-1) 89-63 on Thursday. Blue Whales forced 20 Fujian Nanan turnovers and outrebounded them 48-23 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Blue Whales looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Fujian Nanan's players. It was a great evening for center Tong Xiao (185-0) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Yiming Hu (190-97) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Qiuyi Wang (187-99) with 29 points and 5 rebounds and Taiwanese forward Yu-Chun Wei (173-92) scored 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blue Whales will face Henan Phoenix (#10) in Jiyuan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fujian Nanan will play against Wuhan and hope to win that game.
