Regular Season Round 2: Sao Paulo - Paulistano 70-75

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Paulistano and Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo was defeated at home 70-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Paulistano outrebounded Sao Paulo 45-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. Forward Lucas Doria (203-97, college: St.Edward's) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Victor Camilo (203-97) supported him with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international point guard Georginho de-Paula (195-96) did not help to save the game for Sao Paulo. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) added 15 points for the hosts. Four Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Paulistano's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Corinthians.
