Regular Season Round 6: Hitachi Cougars - Eneos S. 64-87

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Hitachi Cougars (6-1) in Hitachinaka on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Eneos S. (7-0) 87-64. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hitachi Cougars. It was a key game for the top position in East. Eneos S. made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 47-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. Eneos S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 21 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international Saori Miyazaki (167-95) contributed with 10 points and 8 assists for the winners. Five Eneos S. players scored in double figures. Forward Nanami Sato (175-96) replied with 18 points and the former international power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Cougars. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Eneos S. have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in East with 7-0 record. Hitachi Cougars at the other side keep the second place with one game lost. Eneos S. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Cougars will play again at home against the league's leader Eneos S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
