There was a minor upset when Gniezno (0-2) was edged at home by Ogniwo Szcz. (1-2) 68-66 on Saturday. Ogniwo Szcz. outrebounded Gniezno 59-40 including a 48-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gniezno was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Karol Pytys (202-85) who led his team to a victory with 8 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Dominik Grudzinski (204-98) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Piotr Lesniczak (203-99) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and guard Emil Rau (188-97) added 16 points in the effort for Gniezno. Gniezno's coach Arkadiusz Konowalski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ogniwo Szcz. will face AWFiS Gdynia (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gniezno will play against AZS UMK (#10) in Torun and hopes to get finally their first victory.
