Regular Season Round 3: Costa Masnaga - Lucca 84-71

There was a minor upset when Lucca (1-2) was defeated on the road by Costa Masnaga (1-2) 84-71 on Saturday. Costa Masnaga forced 23 Lucca turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Jessica Kovatch (175-97, college: SFU) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. Matilde Villa (170-14) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Costa Masnaga players scored in double figures. Costa Masnaga's coach Paolo Seletti used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Slovakian center Ivana Jakubcova (198-94, college: USC) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and Giovanna Smorto (178-99, agency: LBM Management) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Costa Masnaga will meet San Martino (#11) in the next round. Lucca will play against Ragusa (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
