Regular Season Round 3: Hitachi SRT - Chiba J. 91-93

Important game to mention about took place in Tokyo. Chiba J. (3-0) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Hitachi Sunrockers (0-3) 93-91 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Chiba J. made 33-of-40 charity shots (82.5 percent) during the game, while Hitachi Sunrockers only scored seventeen points from the stripe. Chiba J. had a 27-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Hitachi Sunrockers were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Chiba J. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play again at home against Chiba J. (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.
