Regular Season Round 7: Hitachi Cougars - Eneos S. 66-87

The game between Top Four teams took place in Hitachinaka. Their biggest opponent host Hitachi Cougars (6-2) were smashed by leader Eneos S. (8-0) 87-66. Eneos S. outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 44-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. International forward Yuki Miyazawa (183-93, college: Queens, NY) helped adding 24 points. Eneos S.'s coach Hideaki Umebuchi felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international center Rika Tanimura (185-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Nao Sogabe (165-96) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Eneos S. and four Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Eneos S. have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place in East with 8-0 record. Hitachi Cougars at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Fujitsu RW. Eneos S. are looking forward to face Chanson V-M (#4) in Shizuoka in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play on the road against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
