Regular Season Round 4: Shimane SM - Nagoya DD 72-80

The game between Top Four teams took place in Shimane. Their biggest opponent host Shimane Magic (2-2) lost to third ranked Diamond Dolphins (3-2) 80-72. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Strangely Shimane Magic outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 42-21 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) supported him with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 8 rebounds by American forward DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) did not help to save the game for Shimane Magic. Guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Shimane Magic's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to second place. Shimane Magic at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Diamond Dolphins will play against league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shimane Magic will play on the road against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and hopes to get back on the winning track.
