Regular Season Round 4: Guangdong - Shanghai 54-68

Another exciting game was played in Dongguan between seventh ranked Swordfish and 6th ranked Vermilion Birds where Swordfish (3-1) beat Vermilion Birds (2-2) on the road 68-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vermilion Birds. Swordfish dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Vermilion Birds' 16. Swordfish forced 21 Vermilion Birds turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of center Zhixin Zhang (183-95) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Jing Huang (183-85) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Shuyu Yang (180-2) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Zhen Wang (189-97) added 7 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Vermilion Birds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swordfish moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Vermilion Birds at the other side dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Swordfish will play against Fujian Nanan (#8) in Putian in the next round where they are favorite. Vermilion Birds will play at home against the league's leader Jiangsu Phoenix and hope to get back on the winning track.
