Regular Season Round 14: Abejas - Astros 88-85

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNBP took place in Guanajuato. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Astros (7-7) to sixth ranked Abejas (3-11) 88-85 on Wednesday evening. Abejas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Abejas made 9 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Astros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Leron Black (201-96, college: Illinois) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Bo Spencer (185-89, college: Nebraska) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. The former international Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American guard Karim Scott (196-88) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Astros. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Astros' coach Sergio Valdeolmillos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Abejas maintains sixth position with 3-11 record. Astros at the other side keep the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Libertadores. Abejas are looking forward to face higher ranked Panteras (#5) in Aguascalientes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Astros will play at home against Libertadores and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
