Rather predictable result in Daqing where eleventh ranked Vermilion Birds (3-3) smashed 14th ranked Dragons (1-5) 117-64 on Friday. Vermilion Birds made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 30 Dragons turnovers and outrebounded them 39-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. Vermilion Birds looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Dilana Dilichati (192-97) scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Yi Shen (174-93) chipped in 24 points, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Nairui Xu (172-1) with 15 points and forward Yang-Zhi Li (191-1) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vermilion Birds moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Zhejiang. Dragons lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with five games lost. Vermilion Birds will face higher ranked Beijing Great Wall (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dragons will play against Fujian Nanan (#12) in Putian and hope to win that game.
