Regular Season Round 5: Shinshu BW - Hitachi SRT 77-83

There was a small surprise in Nagano where tenth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (2-3) beat their close opponent Shinshu BW (0-5) 83-77 on Saturday. Hitachi Sunrockers forced 19 Shinshu BW turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU, agency: Wasserman) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Hokkaido L. and Yokohama BC. Shinshu BW lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round. Shinshu BW will play again at home against Hitachi Sunrockers (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
