ToPo Juniorit used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Helsinki 111-102 on Saturday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. ToPo Juniorit made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. HNMKY was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Juuso Kauppinen (188-94) fired 32 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. French swingman Nicolas Meyer (195-89) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five ToPo Juniorit players scored in double figures. Forward Sami Tahvanainen (195-98) produced 30 points and point guard Sakari Laakso (194-97) added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. HNMKY's coach Timo Saukkola tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. ToPo Juniorit will face LoKoKo Bisons in Loimaa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. HNMKY's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena HBA-Marsky.
