Regular Season Round 4: Wroclaw - GTK Gdynia 79-57
Date: October 17, 2020
Bottom-ranked GTK Gdynia (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-57 loss to top-ranked Wroclaw (2-0) in Wroclaw on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Stephanie Jones (188-98, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Sug Sutton (180-98, college: Texas) who added 15 points and 7 assists during the contest. Five Wroclaw players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Julia Bazan (170-1) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Alicja Zytkowska (171-1) scored 16 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wroclaw moved-up to second place, which they share with Poznan. Newly promoted GTK Gdynia still closes the standings with three games lost. Wroclaw will meet league's second-placed Poznan on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. GTK Gdynia will play against Pol.Gdansk (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
