Regular Season Round 3: Lulea Basket - Sodertalje 100-72

Sodertalje (#5) was upset in Lulea by Lulea Basket 100-72. The game without a history. Lulea Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Sodertalje's 26 and made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sodertalje 44-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. Lulea Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Sodertalje's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Ellen Nystrom (185-93, college: Colorado St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international forward Josefin Vesterberg (192-93, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Lulea Basket players scored in double figures. Lulea Basket's coach Robin Sandberg felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (189-92, college: Portland) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and guard Matilda Claesson (170-94) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for Sodertalje in the defeat. Lulea Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sodertalje will play against Mark (#11) in Kinna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
