There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Reze (0-3) was defeated at home by top-ranked Angers (3-0) 64-60 on Saturday. Angers outrebounded Reze 48-32 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mali center Kankou Coulibaly (188-90, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Mali guard Touty Gandega (170-91) chipped in 17 points. Swingman Mariama Daramy (180-2) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian power forward Kim Pierre-Louis (183-93, college: UMass) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Angers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 3-0 record behind leader Chartres. Loser Reze still closes the standings with three games lost. Angers will face SIG (#4) in llkirch-Graff. in the next round. Reze will play on the road against Aulnoye (#5) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
