Regular Season Round 6: Sea Horses M. - Nagoya DD 75-89

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Aishin Sea Horses (5-1) in Kariya on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Diamond Dolphins (4-3) 89-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. Diamond Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 34. Diamond Dolphins looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-95) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) contributed with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) replied with 27 points and American power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) added 19 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diamond Dolphins maintains fourth position with 4-3 record. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top place with one game lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Diamond Dolphins are looking forward to face Dragonflies (#7) in Hiroshima in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against Kyoto H. (#8) and are hoping to win this game.
